Suggestions on “How to Improve Your Bible Studying”

A lot of people are very focused on reading the Bible, and getting through so and so much.

I think that is great, but it leads very quickly to skimming, and not having a grasp on most of what has been read.

Therefore, let me propose the following weekly reading routine:

  1. Pick a book of the Bible, and read the entire thing the first day of the week. This doesn’t have to be a deep dive, as that will come later on. For those arguing that you don’t have the time for that, that is simply not true for 95% of all people. Eliminate your stupid phone time, also training session if need be on that day, and it is very doable.
  2. Listen to the same book every day of the week, finish it daily by listening. This is done to familiarise you with the text, and get a better understanding gradually.
  3. Spend the rest of the week daily to study the book you have read. Look up concordances, words, etc. Anything you can do to improve your understanding of what is in the book. You can’t 100% it, but you can get a lot more understanding from it than if you were just reading the Bible daily.
  4. Move to the next book, the next week.

This week I’m studying Ephesians with this routine, and I encourage everyone to join me.

And again, regarding time:
Even if you are that busy, prioritise the Bible, simple as.

Even Psalms takes only 4.5 hours on audiobook, and that is time that everyone has to read, at least one of the weekdays.
